Ministry of Music

We now turn the page of the summer chapter in our lives and enter into early fall. Before we begin, though, let us take a moment as a worshipping community to reflect on the summer past. Some have gone through terrible trials with health problems and emotionally upsetting events; others have taken the time for rest and rejuvenation with family and friends; and others have just let the season glide by without anything really occurring, which can be relaxing as well. During summer services, the choir has been gathering and singing the anthems around the piano for a more intimate and informal feel.

We appreciate everyone who came out during the summer months to worship and be part of our church community—praying for, supporting, and loving one another. Our coffee hours continued and the fellowship, while smaller in the number of people, was still vital, alive, and meaningful to those who came out to church.

During the summer months, I spent time thinking about where we have been with our music ministry, how we might renew and expand our vision, and then made new plans for the fall music season. September is the time when we start afresh with renewed vigor, inspiration, and a desire to learn and grow in new ways.

Our Homecoming Sunday this year will be on September 12. We look forward to the start of a new Christian education year and will be welcoming back our Christian community as a whole. It is always an exciting Sunday when everyone returns, the pews are filled, and the chancel choir members are all in place. We like to see you back where you belong.

Our church is a community of believers who come together to worship, pray, learn, and sing praises. We love and support one another through the trials of life. Our choir and the music we make while singing hymns together is part of that ministry and binds us together. The presence and participation of every single member of this congregation is vital to supporting our mission and ministry.

We look forward to seeing you back in word and song.

Chancel Choir
I encourage you to move out of your comfort zone (the church pew) and join with us as the choir supports the congregation in singing the hymns, preparing us for worship with an introit, and ministering in word and music with the anthem. We need your voice; won’t you join us?

Instrumentalists
If you play an instrument at school, please let me know so that we can work together and plan something for our worship services this fall.

Bell Choir
We are ready to begin this fall with a bell choir workshop. I invite you to give the bells a try even if you have never played before. It’s easy. You do not have to read music; you just have to know your left from your right hand. Many have expressed a desire to ring, then...
